Evaulation

What genre did you think the name represented? Why?
The radio station “Pulse” represents Now Music for example: Top of the charts music, Hip Hop, House music, Dub step and Electra. The word “Pulse” made me, think of a beat and also something fast paced this is why I made the decision to choose this genre of music for this particular radio station.

Who did you think the audience is? Why?
The target audience is 16 to 21 year olds especially 18 to 20 year olds as they are the ones that go out clubbing and partying the most and this is the type of music DJ’s play at clubs.

How did you aim to appeal to that audience?
I wanted my logo to represent my target audience but also the music that is played on the radio station. So I made the logo very unique and stylish but modern at the same time like my target audience. I chose the colours blue and black as they are both unisex colours and them colours will attract both boys and girls. The font I choose for this logo is big and bold but at the same time there is a stylish free flowing font for the word pulse this explains the music that is played on this radio station

Who did you think would be the stations competitors? Why?
The competitors for “Pulse” would be radio stations like Kiss FM, Capital FM and Radio one FM. As these radio stations play the same time of music as pulse also they probably have the same if not similar target audience. My radio station has an edge on these stations from our wide range of music that is played so the radio station will not become repetitive like Kiss FM, Capital FM and Radio one FM.

What look did you want to create? Why?
For the radio station “Pulse” I wanted to create a stylish, free flowing, trendy and modern logo that would give an identity to my radio station “Pulse”. I wanted my logo to appeal to my target audience which is 16 to 21 year olds so I made it look very modern with they way the letters overlap each other. Also I made the colours that I used unisex so it attracts both genders. I chose a font that is really stylish and free flowing I done this, as that is what my target audience represent.

How did you create that look? Use technical terminology
I created my logo on Photoshop. Firstly, I used the text tool to draw a box so I could write the word OW after this I changed the letter O to blue and the letter W to black using the paint bucket tool.
Once that was completed I highlighted the text and used the paragraph panel tool to edit the word for example making the letters closer together.
After I had finished editing the text I drew a rectangle using the rectangle tool after this I made the rectangle white using the pain bucket tool so it looks like I’ve cut the middle section out of the O.
I drew another slightly bigger rectangle using the rectangle tool and made it white with the paint bucket tool after this I covered the end of the W so it looks like it’s been cut out.
Then I used the text tool to write the exclamation mark after this I turned the colour to pink using the paint bucket tool
Finally I used the text tool and drew a little box and wrote the word "Pulse" and edited the text using the paragraph panel tool to make it fit perfectly inside the gap of the O.

What did you think was the most successful part of your logo?
I think the most successful part of my design is the way it looks it is very modern, stylish and professional I think it looks like something a professional designer would make. I incorporated the exclamation mark into the W as I though this would give it a modern and cool look. I chose the colours Red, Blue and Pink because these colours are unisex colours so they will attract both males and females. I wanted the to make my design so it had the company OW! Incorporated inside as well as the actual name of the radio station and this would show that these stations are a family.

Did your audience think that it suited the genre?
When I asked my audience for feedback they all couldn’t really tell what type of music is played on each radio station this is why I had to go back and re think the design of my logo keeping them so you can tell that they are from the same family but giving them a bit more of a unique edge. I done this by change the colours that I used and the font type I used for the name of the radio station.

What skills have you developed most when creating this logo?
I think the skill that I have most developed through this process of creating my logos is my Photoshop skills as I have used Photoshop to make all my logos and now I feel very confident when using Photoshop and this will benefit me in the future with make stuff on Photoshop.

What could you still do to your work to make it even better?
To better my work I need to make my logos say what type of music they play on the station as I think I have not done this effectively enough and you cannot really tell.

Grid Font

Me and Mic decided to go with style of font for our logo as it appeals to our target audience which is 18-30 year old's as its graffiti and youths like this style of writing and it has relevance to them. The colours are unisex for example the blues, purples, reds and pinks so this appeals to both men and women.
